In the past five years, artist Nathan Lynch has frequently presented his sculptures in the company of several narratives, complicating the relationship between the text, the viewer, and the object. Lynch invites local artists to write and read short stories that are inspired by his BAN7 project, DEAD RECKONING. Participating artists/storytellers include Michael Swaine, Maria Porges, Kyle Metzner, and Kari Marboe, among others.

Mount holyoke, America’s first all women’s college, has LITERALLY just announced that they’re accepting transwomen now this is HUGE
actually mills college put out their change in policy statement at the end of last semester, but im stoked that both schools got on board. ( i go to mills, so i thought i’d mention it)
it huge as far as changes go. though i wish their policy reflected a better understanding of gender variety. for example trans men don’t fit under this new policy and that also includes people who are non binary, or gender neutral as well.
I won’t soon forget the events that took place in #ferguson…will you?
"On September 11th 1973, US-backed General Pinochet overthrew the democratically elected leader of Chile, Salvadore Allende. Pinochet ordered an air strike on the Presidential Palace, labor activists and famous folk guitarists were rounded up for torture, disappeared, and killed. Pinochet converted the national football stadium into a detention facility like Guantanamo Bay. Chile’s economy was turned into a plantation for the 1%, as inequality and poverty skyrocketed under the imposed Milton Friedman-style economic model.
Over 40,000 Chileans became victims of Pinochet’s terror. In response, the Nixon administration committed more money, more training, more torture equipment.
The world didn’t begin on September 11th, 2001. Rather, for the first time in modern history, Americans were visited by the same violence the US has imposed since its creation. In Chile, the US murdered tens of thousands and impoverished millions. This wasn’t America’s first foray in international terrorism, nor would it be the last. The United States security state is a terrorist and a plague on the people of the world.”— US Uncut
If you woke up tomorrow, and your internet looked like this, what would you do?
Imagine all your favorite websites taking forever to load, while you get annoying notifications from your ISP suggesting you switch to one of their approved “Fast Lane” sites.
Think about what we would lose: all the weird, alternative, interesting, and enlightening stuff that makes the Internet so much cooler than mainstream Cable TV. What if the only news sites you could reliably connect to were the ones that had deals with companies like Comcast and Verizon?
On September 10th, just a few days before the FCC’s comment deadline, public interest organizations are issuing an open, international call for websites and internet users to unite for an “Internet Slowdown” to show the world what the web would be like if Team Cable gets their way and trashes net neutrality. Net neutrality is hard to explain, so our hope is that this action will help SHOW the world what’s really at stake if we lose the open Internet.
If you’ve got a website, blog or tumblr, get the code to join the #InternetSlowdown here: https://battleforthenet.com/sept10th
Everyone else, here’s a quick list of things you can do to help spread the word about the slowdown: http://tumblr.fightforthefuture.org/post/96020972118/be-a-part-of-the-great-internet-slowdown
wHY DOES THIS HAVE SO FEW NOTES
Today in Solidarity: Protesters gather in Oakland against the Urban Shield conference and police militarization.
Ever wonder where cities get all their fancy ideas on how to militarize their police force? It’s not just from the Pentagon— it’s conferences like Urban Shield, that highlight the latest in tactical equipment and practices for suppressing the very people you’re sworn to serve. #staywoke #whodoyouprotect #whodoyouserve
Tuesday August 26th, the Belgian feminist activist group Lilith’S took Liège airport by storm to condemn the airport authorities’ role in supplying arms to Israel. Under a banner bearing the slogan “HOW MANY TONS OF WEAPONS FOR SO MANY LITERS OF BLOOD ? “, the activists spilled a hundred liters of fake blood, creating a red pool to symbolize the slaughter committed by Israel in Palestine.
this is so awesome that I can’t even begin to comprehend. Applause for them.
